A private service will be held at First Baptist Church, Greensboro. Mr. Burch will lie in state Wednesday, July 14 from 1-6 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street.
Ward proudly served his country from 1956 to 1958 in the United States Army. He graduated from Mars Hill College, Wake Forest University and New Orleans Baptist Seminary, earning his masters in divinity. Churches he served were Rowland Springs Baptist Church, Cartersville, GA, Calvary Baptist Church, Gastonia, NC, Oak Grove Baptist Church, Canton, NC, First Baptist Church, Stoneville, NC and Rolling Roads Baptist Church, Greensboro, NC. Ward retired in 1997.
Ward was preceded in death by his parents, William T. and Belle Kimsey Burch; sisters, Mary Lou Kopp, Betty Jean Hall, Ruth Duncan, Oline Burch and his brothers, Grady, Glen Burch. He is survived by his wife, Alice Hatton Burch; children, Scott Burch, Anita Wilson and husband, Pat; grandchildren, Seth Wilson, Caleb Wilson, Carson Burch, Garrett Burch, Chelsea Rodriguez, Lauren Rodriguez; great grandchildren, Blythe, Charlie and Lennon, and Ward's sister, Joan Conner.
The family is very appreciative of the staff of Spring Arbor, AuthoraCare Collective and caregivers Sheyanna and Teresa for the care and compassion given to Ward while in their care.
