A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Walter was born in Morris County, NJ, to the late Walter Harrison Yocum and Joyce Ann Ackerman Yocum. He attended Wharton (NJ) Public Schools, Morris Hills High School in Rockaway, NJ (Class of 1970), and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was a member of Adams Farm Community Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Marilyn Ann (Cyphers) Yocum, of Greensboro; children, April Beason (David) of Winston-Salem, NC, Walter Yocum (Carrie) of Havre de Grace, MD, and Susan Minch (Justin) of Charlotte, NC; sister, Iris Lynn Gerlach of Stanhope, NJ, and brothers Gregory Arthur Yocum of Wharton, NJ and Richard William Yocum, of Rotunda West, FL; 5 grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
