Chip was born in New York City January 15, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marnie and Adair Wright and his younger brother, Alan Adair Wright, Jr. Chip attended Lawrenceville School, UNC Chapel Hill and LSU. He met Whimsey when he was 17 and she 14, and though they lived in different locations he worked summer jobs to be close to his gal.
Chip was able to make a profession of his passion for photography and printing, by starting Mastercolor Professional Labs, which he ran from 1975 to 2017. He considered the Mastercolor staff his second family.
Chip is survived by his daughter, Adair Wright of Wilmington, son, W. Charles Wright Jr. of Greensboro (Wendy). In addition, Chip adored his four grandchildren: Kav Ellis (Julia) of Wilmington, NC, Charles Ellis (Courtney) of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Lou Wright of Wilmington and Walt Wright of Greensboro. The bonus was the arrival of great grandson, Archer, known to Pop Pop as “Buddy Boo”. To anyone who knows this family the adoration was mutual.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Tisovcec for Chip’s care as well as his “girlfriends”
Dr. Mary Ellen Pace, Dr. Amy Jordan and Dr. Christine McCuen.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: The Servant Center, (housing and rehabilitating homeless veterans) 1417 Glenwood Avenue, Greensboro, NC. 27403 or the Barnabas Network, 838 Winston Street, Greensboro, NC 27405 or the charity of one’s choice.
