Virginia McPherson (Blackwell) Bryant

A memorial service, celebrating her life, will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at St Johns United Methodist Church, 1304 Merritt Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407. The family will receive friends and loved ones, one hour prior to the service from 4:00 until 5:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Her final resting place will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

Virginia was born in Richmond, Virginia on January 31, 1926 to the late George and Myrtle Blackwell. She received her degree in Pharmacology from Guilford Technical Institute and worked as a nurse at Wesley Long Hospital for over 10 years. Virginia enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing the organ and was a long-time member of St Johns United Methodist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who was loved my many and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Clyde William McPherson and her second husband, David Livingston Bryant; and her two brothers, William Blackwell and George Blackwell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Patricia Ann Drewery (Calvin); son, Clyde William “Bill” McPherson; grandchildren, James Steven Drewery (Sarah), Jeffrey William Drewery (Ginny) and Morgan McPherson (Alnayel); great-grandchildren, Sara (Patrick), Kaley, Madison, Austin, Tyler and Bushra; and other extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Johns United Methodist Church, 1304 Merritt Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407.
