Victoria Antoinette Kunitski Mills, 79, died Friday, July 23, 2021, at Moses Cone Hospital after a short illness. Victoria was born July 23, 1942, in Paterson, New Jersey, daughter of the late Joseph Victor and Victoria Helen Ojzenski Kunitski. She resided in New Jersey before moving to North Carolina in 1987.
A graduate of Clifton High School in Clifton, NJ, she then went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, NJ, and later on an Associate of Science Degree in Accounting from Durham Technical Community College in Durham, NC. It was at Fairleigh Dickinson University that Victoria met her husband of forty-one years, Allan Lewis Mills, who preceded her in death on March 17, 2006. They married in Clifton, NJ on January 30, 1965 and went on to have three children. Victoria was employed as a chemist, office manager, and accountant during her life, and she was proudest of being able to start her own accounting business once her children had grown. She loved reading, listening to music, watching and collecting movies, and spending time at the beach, where she once owned a vacation home In Emerald Isle, NC. She also greatly enjoyed cooking, baking, and being the keeper of all of the family holiday traditions, including collecting family Christmas ornaments and having special menus for each holiday. More recently her favorite hobby was researching genealogy, and she spent a lot of time documenting her Polish ancestry.
Victoria is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Scott Mills and wife, Yvonna; and Steven Douglas Mills; her daughter, Laura Michele Hill and husband, Michael; and her beloved grandchildren, Emily and Evan Hill. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association (lung.org).
