Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro. Darrel will be laid to rest beside his mother in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the funeral. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
Born July 9, 1989 in High Point, NC to the late Gregory Hackler and Margaret Sparks, Darrel was of the Christian faith. Friends and family refer to his kind and laid-back demeanor, saying he would give you the shirt right off his back if you needed it. Even at his death, he donated his eyes in hopes of helping another human being able to see. Darrel worked at Red Zone Bar and Grill in Randleman where he made many friends. He enjoyed learning about history, especially history pertaining to medieval times. Darrel loved astrology and was very intrigued by all aspect of the science behind it. He was into Anime characters and shows that portrayed them as well as any movies pertaining to medieval times and pirate movies. In his free time he liked to work out and listening to country music and classic rock. Darrel was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harold Sparks.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Nikki Polk (Reginald); his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Sparks; niece, Natilese Polk; nephews, Nikolas Polk and Nuhlyzah Polk; several cousins and other extended family and friends.
