A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Sybil was born February 23, 1924, in Rockingham Co., NC to the late Thomas Birch and Ollie Smothers Neal. She was the Mother of the Church and greeter at her daughter Sandra’s church, Spirit and Truth International, of Greensboro, NC, until her later years. Her priorities for life were her love for Jesus, her family and her church. Hairdresser by profession, she was a former Lay Witness Leader, traveled to Jerusalem, a graduate of several Bible study courses, she was a home Bible study hostess for years.
Sybil was a glorious witness for her Lord Jesus Christ all the days of her Christian life. To God be the Glory!
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by her husband Walter E. Gardner; daughter, Pastor Sandra Myrick and her brother, Jack Neal. She is survived by her children, Neal Gardner and wife Jina, Candy G. Fields and husband Ron; son-in-law, Don Myrick all of Greensboro; sisters, Jill Neal Strader of Summerfield, Barbara Neal Price of Stokesdale, Judy Neal of Jamestown; grandchildren, Joy Blair and husband, David, Pam Barrie and husband Shon, Chip Myrick and wife Karen, Michael and Gabriel Fields, and her great grandchildren, Matthew, Victoria, and Ashley Blair, Will, Zack and Madison Barrier and Jaxson and Trevor Myrick.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Morningview at Irvin Park, Bridge to Recovery, and the staff at Moses Cone Hospital, 2 central and 6th floor North Tower.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
