Sherry Zimmerman Jones

Sherry Zimmerman Jones passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Clapps Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden, NC. Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jones, her sister, Wanda Alverson, and her parents Jack & Dorothy Zimmerman. Left to cherish her memory are, her brother Maynard Zimmerman (Dianna), brother-n-law Dudley Alverson, her nieces April Rumple (Ronnie), Kim Sudderth (George), Jessica Beville (Rodney), her nephews Justin Alverson (Liz), Doug Zimmerman (Stefanie) as well as many great nieces & nephews, special friend Tommy Lewis and her fur baby Mandy.

Sherry was a graduate of Page High School. Later in life she went to work for the City of Greensboro in the Finance Department where she retired in 2013 with 21 years of service. Some of the activities Sherry enjoyed before her decline in health were fishing, running, taking her fur baby to dog training classes, riding her golf cart around her property and going for mani/pedi’s.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27407. Graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Guilford Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to her caregivers at Clapps Nursing Center who loved & cared for her and made her feel special. As well as her neighbor & friend Ricky for all the help and friendship he provided to Sherry for many years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in the name of Sherry Jones may be made directly to: Baptist Children’s Home in Thomasville, NC.
