Ruth Rachel Roberts was born on May 15, 1921, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to the late Henry Franklin Roberts and Alta Earnhardt Roberts. At the age of 96, she passed from her earthly life into her eternal life on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at her residence at Clare Bridge, Brookdale Senior Living Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was surrounded by her loving caregiver friends who have nurtured her and cared for her during the last three years.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel. Visitation will be at 2 p.m., followed by the funeral at 3 p.m., and burial there at Guilford Memorial Park, following the funeral service.
Ruth graduated from Greensboro Senior High School in 1938 and retired from the United States Internal Revenue Service after many years of service as an auditor. She taught Sunday School to many little children at Presbyterian Church of the Covenant and was active in Women's Circle there. She held memberships in the American Business Women's Association and the Piedmont Doll Club. As an accomplished roller skater, Ruth competed for many years in the sport and was a recipient of various awards in the areas of figures and dance, and she travelled for many years all over the United States officiating at local, state, regional, and national competitions within the RSROA. Ruth's special crafting creativity lives on in her many design projects, especially in her unique perfection of Chrismon crafting.
In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her siblings; sisters, Gertrude Mahailey Roberts, Beulah "Boots" Roberts Snead (Dennis), Evelyn Roberts Jones (Howard), and Mary Roberts Martin (Junious); and brothers, C. Frank Roberts (Ruth), Fred Taylor Roberts (Lois), and Parks Henry Roberts (Ruth). She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. A natural caregiver herself, Ruth was a loving caregiver to her mother and three sisters. She was a perfect playmate to all children in her midst and leaves behind many precious memories. She will be truly missed.
Ruth's family acknowledges with sincere gratitude and appreciation the abundant loving care provided to Ruth by her uniquely special caregivers at Clare Bridge, and also those Hospice representatives involved with her care.
