Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro. Ruth will be laid to rest in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral from 1:00 until 2:00 pm, at the funeral home.
Born in Guilford County, July 1, 1930 to the late Wade Field Broadway and Mary Jane Louise Jenkins Broadway, Ruth was a member of Emmanuel Methodist Church in Burlington, NC. She graduated from Burlington High School and then went on to graduate from Nursing School. Ruth retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company after 28 years of employment. She was a fantastic cook, an amazing puzzler, an accomplished quilter and crochet knitter. Ruth enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and listening to Elvis and The Gaithers. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. Beyond anything, she loved spending time with her grandsons and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Robert Thomas Beal; her second husband, Herbert Franklin Brandon, Jr.; a grandson, Adam Frazier; and her beloved four-legged fur babies, Zoe and Riley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters, Vickie Frazier (fiancé, Peter MacKinnon) of Greenville, SC, Jo Ann Andrews (John) of Burlington, NC and Susan Beal of Greensboro, NC; sister, Marjorie King (Joe) of Burlington, NC; grandsons, William Andrews (Leah) of Austin, TX, Jason
Andrews of Fort Worth, TX and Ryan Frazier of Greenville, SC; great-grandchildren, Sully, Cooper and Parker Andrews, all of Austin, TX; along with other extended family and friends.
