Ronald R. Jones

He was born July 30, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late James Chester Jones and Gertrude Fredrick. He graduated from St. Andrews School and attended Youngstown University and Lakeland Community College with an associate degree in Industrial Engineering.

He served in the armed services from the Air Force in 1958-1962 as Airman 1st Class and served sixteen years inactive Amy Reserve.

He worked for Volvo Trucks, Americas in various progressive positions. He began his career in Cleveland, OH, transferred to Dublin, VA, and relocated to Greensboro, NC before retiring after 37 years of service with Volvo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Loretta Jones and brother Dick Jones.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 5th at Guilford Park Presbyterian Church, located at 2100 Fernwood Drive, Greensboro, N.C. where he was a member. Visitation and reception will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

He loved his weekly golf games, the camaraderie of golfers and their wives and the social life that revolved around this group. He loved spending time with his family, church and his cat Mickey, dog Brussels. Ron was a kind and caring individual to everyone and will be sorely missed by all that knew him and will be remembered as the “Walking Golden Rule”.

His love of God, family, golf and his pets, filled his days with happiness and joy and for that we shall all be together again eternally.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary F. Jones, son James (Lisa), daughters, Pam Garner (Bob); Loretta Lowman (Dave); Debbie Jones, stepdaughter Lara Altizer (Wayne), stepson John Patton (Regina) and four grandchildren Shelby Yarbrough, Taylor and Morgan Lowman and Nicholas Jones. Sisters Gertrude Brugh, Barbara Shima and brother James Jones and many nieces and nephews from Cleveland, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Guilford Park Presbyterian Church, 2100 Fernwood Drive, Greensboro, NC 27408
