Robert Delbert Kirkman

Robert Delbert Kirkman, 88, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 after an extended illness. He was born on March 6, 1930 in Guilford County, the son of Robert and Beulah Kindley Kirkman. He served his country in the US Navy. Following his military service, he enrolled and graduated from High Point College. He then worked as an agent with the Mass Mutual Insurance Company, retiring after 55 years of service.

Delbert was a member of Christ Methodist Church in High Point for over 50 years. Delbert created a loving home for his wife and family. He devoted his life to caring for his children and encouraging them to find their strengths and God-given talents.

Delbert was preceded in death by his loving wife Celia in November of 2008. Those left to cherish his memory are his children and grandchildren; Ann K. Brady and husband Stephen of Greensboro, NC, Susan Kirkman of Cary, NC, Sherry Lee and husband David and their children, Alex and Rachel of Cary, NC, David Kirkman and his children; Jonathan, Rebekah, and Emily, all of Jamestown, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, 3:00 pm at Christ United Methodist Church in High Point with Rev. Doctor Matt Farabow officiating, Burial with full military rites at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.
