Robert "Norman" Davis, 95, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Monday September 10, 2018 at Beacon Place. He was born December 26, 1922 in Washington, D.C., the son of Arthur G. and Edna Stout Davis.
Norman was retired from Wilson Sporting Goods where he was a sales representative. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Navy and was a member of St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church. He graduated from McKinley Tech High School, UNC Chapel Hill and received his Masters at University of Maryland. He was an avid golfer, talented musician and most of all loving family man.
Norman was married to Eleanor Elizabeth “Betty” Spangler Davis who preceded him in death on December 3, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gene Davis.
Surviving are his daughters, Marsha “Bootsie” Davis Williams and husband “R.O.” of Lynchburg, VA, Peggy Davis Gentel and her dear friend Tom Mayer, Sr. of Greensboro; his son, Gary Duane Davis and wife Mary Beth of Katy, TX; grandchildren, Jason Gentel, Ashlee Ramsey, Ryan Gentel, Brent Gentel, Kristin Tull, Casey Shuford, Bradley Davis, Justin Davis, Allison Davis Eubanks and 19 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 22, 2018 at St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church, 5228 Hilltop Rd., Jamestown, NC 27282
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Norman’s memory to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave. Greensboro, NC 27405.
