Born on June 23, 1935 in Cambridge, OH, he was the son of the late Lawrence Virgil Stewart and Teresa Cartner Stewart. Dick was a 1953 graduate of Cambridge High School and during his senior year of high school, he was named All American Football Player. Dick served our country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Marines. He was a pitcher in the minor leagues for the New York Yankee Division. Because of this, he was a diehard fan of the New York Yankees. Dick also enjoyed playing golf and hunting and in his later years enjoyed watching westerns. Dick retired for the S&D Coffee Company.
Dick was a 32 degree Mason, member of the Corinthian Lodge 543, Oasis Shrine, and the Benevolent Order of Elks Lodge 602.
Dick is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marcia Stewart; two daughters, Vicki Jensen and husband Randy and Debra Parker; three grandchildren, Gregory Jensen, Lee Hill and Crystal Hill and husband Dale Fenninger; five great grandchildren, Christian Hill, Noah Hill, Hannah Jensen, Estella Jensen and Ella Fenninger; sister, Ella Margaret “Pargy” Cropper; and numerous other family members.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Westminster Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends following the service.
