Randy Alan Campbell was a wonderful son, dedicated father, loyal brother and fun-loving uncle. He lived his life based on his devotion to God, family and service to others through his career as a firefighter. Randy was born in High Point to the late Jack Lee Campbell and Barbara Ann Morrison Campbell, surviving. He died at age 65 on November 27, 2022.
A service to celebrate his life will be at 12 PM, Thursday, December 1 at South Elm Street Baptist Church, 4212 S. Elm Eugene Street, Greensboro, NC with interment to follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, November 30 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield chapel.
While in high school Randy developed a passion for fire service and volunteered with the Pinecroft/Sedgefield Fire Department, later becoming the department’s mechanic. He then worked for Greensboro Fire Department as a mechanic, where he played a monumental role in restoring their antique fire truck. For approximately five years he sold firetrucks for American LaFrance Company. His retirement with the High Point Fire Department was approaching this year when he departed due to illness.
Randy loved to cook, especially BBQ with his father although they kept their recipe for sauce as top secret and only shared with those with a “need to know”. He enjoyed traveling and spending time on Belews Creek and Baden Lake with family and friends. Randy had an easy going spirit and quick wit, always ready with a joke, smile and a desire to serve others. He was an active scoutmaster with BSA, Troup 320, president of the PTA of Allen Jay Middle School from 2002-2004 and served on various committees and mission trips with Rehobeth United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Lee Campbell; sister, Cynthia; maternal grandparents, Lucy and Thomas Morrison and paternal grandparents, Ethel and Elmwood Campbell.
