He was also preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy Carter Hendrick and Edith Carter May and his brothers Paul and Luther Carter.
Ralph graduated from Davis-Townsend High school in 1947. For 32 years he was a Manager for the Meat Department at Kroger. Ralph was a Veteran of the US Air Force serving four years during the Korean War. He was a member of Hinshaw United Methodist Church.
Ralph was known for his hobby of woodworking, including building cherished games and toys for his grandchildren. Ralph was a passionate gardener, loved his flowers, and passed many of his gardening secrets on to those he loved. He was an avid reader and enjoyed learning new things about science and history. He often shared his memories of growing up on the family farm in Thomasville. He commemorated these memories by writing a book, “My Stories- Things I Remember and Stuff I’ve Been Told”. These stories will forever be embedded in the hearts of his family.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years Peggy Money Carter of the home, two daughters Cathy Carter-Cline (Victor Denning Jr.) of Stokesdale, Beverly Cooper (Mark Cooper) of Thomasville, two grandchildren Brooke Cooper of Thomasville and Jesse Cooper (Katie Cooper) of Thomasville. Ralph had three great-grandchildren Levi Kinley, Lila Mae Parrish and Ivy Kate Cooper and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday August 5, 2022 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until service time.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jesse Cooper, Mark Cooper, Victor Denning, Jr., Nicholas Berrier, Jeremy Berrier and Levi Kinley.
