Earlene worked with the Guilford County School system in the cafeteria. She then later worked with the City of Greensboro library and last worked with On Que.
Earlene loved her work, but what was most important to her was being a homemaker and being a mother to her children she loved so dearly.
She was married to Donald Ray Riggs, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Donald Ray Riggs, Jr., Howard Lee Riggs; and two sisters, Sadie Janet Locklear and Linda Kaye Fulp.
Earlene is survived by her son, Bobby Earl Riggs (Wendy Atkinson) of Greensboro; honorary daughter, Casi Cleven of Lexington; three sisters, Sandra Casey of Greensboro, Libby Ottinger (Fred) of Brown Summit, Donna Deese of Rockingham; one brother, Earlie Ray Honeycutt (Jackie) of Greensboro; grandchildren, Megan Chelette, Logan Ray Riggs, Gracie Elizabeth Riggs, Jeremy Hinson, Aaron Hinson, Howard Lee Riggs, Jr. and great grandchildren, Paul Garcia, Emma Riggs, Howard Ray Riggs and Arya Hinson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 25, 2024 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel officiated by the Reverend Michael McGhee. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
