Phyllis Ann News, 94, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, in North Carolina. Born on September 16, 1930, in Illinois, Phyllis lived a vibrant life filled with creativity, love, and devotion to her family beginning in Cherry Hill, NJ, and later in New Bern, NC.

She was married to the love of her life, Fredrick News, who preceded her in death on May 11, 2010. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Richard "Rick" News, on April 29, 1984, and her granddaughter Rebecca News on July 11, 2018.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Mark News, and his wife Diane, along with her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren who all loved her dearly.

Phyllis was a woman of remarkable creativity and intelligence. She possessed a deep love of poetry and was an avid reader, always seeking beauty and meaning in words. Her talent for making handmade material boxes was admired by all, and her skill at card playing made her a formidable and entertaining opponent. A gracious host, Phyllis delighted in preparing delicious meals and setting beautiful tables for her loved ones, turning every gathering into a celebration.

In her later years, Phyllis enjoyed a fulfilling career in New Bern, NC. Her eloquent and heartfelt letters are treasured keepsakes, a testament to her thoughtful and loving nature. She brought love into the lives of everyone she met and was adored by her family and friends alike.

Phyllis is now at peace, reunited with her beloved husband, Fred, dear son, Rick and Granddaughter Rebecca. Her legacy of loyalty, love, and appreciation for life’s beautiful moments lives on through her family. She will be remembered each day and loved forever. A private memorial service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you celebrate Phyllis’s life by sharing a meal with loved ones, enjoying a poem, or cherishing the beauty in everyday moments, just as she did.
