Peggy was born on March 4, 1933 to the late John Lever Kennerly and Elizabeth Turner Kennerly. After graduating from Brookland-Cayce High School in West Columbia, S.C. Peggy went on to study at the Draughon’s Business College in Columbia, S.C.
In May, 1966, Peggy met Melvin M. McCord Jr. and they were married in December, 1966. They then proceeded to adopt a daughter, Katherine Jean Conner. In 1967, their son M. Maurice McCord III was born.
Peggy was a passionate mother and grandmother that filled her home with warmth and kindness. She could be found later in life as a reading volunteer at Irving Park Elementary (Greensboro, NC) or practicing her hobby of collecting antiques. We will miss Peggy greatly.
Peggy was predeceased in death by John L. Kennerly (father), Elizabeth Turner Kennerly (mother), John L. Kennerly (brother) and Katherine Jean Conner (adopted daughter). She is survived by her husband, Melvin, her son Maurice (Kristi) and grandchildren Collin, Kristopher and Elizabeth Grace (Maurice and Kristi) along with Stephanie, Brandie and Christopher (Katherine).
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Chapel on Saturday, May 21st at 11am.
