Peggy O’Steen Corey, also known as Sweet Pea, Nanny, and Nan, left us on February 3rd, 2018 to begin her journey home to be with her precious Lord. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Helen Fliess and Jesse O’Steen. She is predeceased by her loving brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Andy and Melrose Anderson, and brother-in-law and best friend and soul sister, John and Charlotte Corey. Peggy is finally getting to know her precious Great Granddaughter, Kenley who left to be with the Lord before her. Peggy was born on January 24th, 1935 in Jacksonville, Florida. She has made Jamestown, North Carolina her home since 1974.
Peggy is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert Cleveland Corey, her daughter Teri Corey Gregory(Jeff), her son Rob Corey (Jeannie), granddaughter Megan Dagenhart (Steven), granddaughter Lauren Gregory, granddaughter Parker Corey, grandson William Corey, and granddaughter Riley Anne Corey. Peggy is also survived by great- granddaughter Mia, as she fondly called her Noodle, and brand new great-grandson Dalton born the day before she left to be with her Lord. She is also survived by her brother, Leonard O’Steen of Jacksonville, Florida. Peggy was blessed with many loving nieces and nephews, their families, and devoted friends and neighbors.
Peggy graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida, Florida where she met the love of her life, Cleveland (Bob). She graduated from Jacksonville Junior College. She started her working career with Prudential until her two children came along and she became an incredible and much loved mother. After a short stay in Columbus, Ohio, Peggy moved with her family to Jamestown, NC in 1974. She was a longtime member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church since 1975. She found her calling as a real estate agent for Bow Stafford Reality in Jamestown for 20 years where she made everlasting friendships with her team and clients.
Peggy fought a hard battle with Parkinson’s since 1997 and was a hero to the entire family. She never met a stranger and her kindness and love radiated to everyone she met. Her family would like to thank Hospice of the Piedmont and Cone Health Rehab Center of their devoted service.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate the life of Peggy Corey will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10th at Jamestown Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made in Peggy’s name to the Hamil-Kerr Challenge (Supporting Parkinson’s Patients) in care of Jamestown Presbyterian Church, 1804 Guilford College Road, Jamestown, NC 27282.
