Nancy Goforth Toomey

Nancy Goforth Toomey passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at her home after a long illness. She was born April 8, 1937 in Lawndale, NC, the daughter of John and Dolieta Powell Goforth. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was singularly devoted to her family and relished good times with good friends

Nancy was Gastonia High School and Evans Business College graduate. In the workplace at various times, she was a court reporter and administrative assistant to the CEO of Kayser Roth. She was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church and Sedgefield Country Club

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard G. Toomey Jr. of the home; children, Jeffrey S. Toomey of Reidsville, NC, John R. Toomey and wife Diane of Collegeville, PA, Julia T. MacKenzie of Greenville, NC, Richard G. Toomey III and wife Amanda P. of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Alison Toomey, Suzanne Toomey, David Toomey, Michael MacKenzie, Blair MacKenzie, Mara-Holland MacKenzie and Sophia Toomey

A Celebration of her Life will be held on Sunday, November 20 at 3:00 PM, at Jamestown United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Latimer officiating followed by a reception in church’s fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
