Myra Morton Jones, 82, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. She was born in Albemarle, NC, the daughter of Floyd and Bessie Mauldin Morton.
Myra graduated from Greensboro High School and later worked for over 34 years with the Internal Revenue Service where she received many awards for her hard work, accomplishments and integrity. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by her sister, Peggy Waldrop of Stoneville and her extended family of Myra’s nephews, nieces, and grand nephews and nieces. Also by her sons, Larry Petty of Oregon, Michael Petty of Massachusetts, Clinton Vince Jones of Greensboro, and a daughter Joni Jones of Maryland.
A Celebration of life and visitation will be held at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel at 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday with burial to follow there at Guilford Memorial Park.
Myra’s generous and cheerful spirit was a blessing to her family and her many friends, many of whom also regarded her as family.
