Mildred Ruth Evans McBroom, 94, a resident of Jamestown passed away at her home on Tuesday September 27, 2022. She was born in Roxboro on February 12, 1928, the daughter of James Monroe and Gladys Ruth Wilkens Evans.
Mildred worked as a bookkeeper for the Harris-Teeter Grocery Co. for 33 years. She started with them when they were the original Big Bear Grocery Store in High Point. She was a member of First Baptist Church in High Point. She previously was a member of Jamestown Baptist Church for 65 years.
Mildred was married to Charles McBroom, Jr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Jane Evans Dunn and Barbara Priscilla Evans Brandon.
She is survived by two daughters, Priscilla McBroom Walker of Jamestown, Janet McBroom Hritz and husband Donald of Jamestown; five grandchildren, Dustin Perry, Kellie Nunn, Melanie Peppers, Brian Campbell, Adriane Campbell; nine great grandchildren, Marley Perry, Evan Perry, Chance Walker, Samone Hazel, Joshua Perry, Edward Peppers, Hunter Peppers, Keely Campbell, Taylor Campbell and six great-great grandchildren, Dustin Walker, Peyton Walker, Denver Walker, Emma Grace Walker, Bella Walker and Aubree Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Dr. Jerry Harper, the Reverend Corinne Harvey Causby. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
