Millie was born January 11, 1931 in Greensboro to Edward and Bertha Jenkins. She grew up in the Bessemer community area and graduated from Bessemer High School where she participated on the cheerleading squad. Millie was employed by Roses, Container Corp and Maddux Supply.
Millie is preceded in death by her loving husband, James M. “Jim” Gardner and son, James M. “Mark” Gardner. She is survived by her son, Steven D. Gardner and wife Cynthia; and daughter, Jeana L. Kennedy. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Jamie (Chad), Michael, Kaylee, Nikki, Kenzie, Matthew and Lindsey; and three great grandchildren, Ryder, Cole and Lennie.
Millie enjoyed spending time bowling and playing bridge with her friends. She adored her family and was a source of support, nurturing love and dedication with no boundaries. Our family lovingly appreciates all those whose lives were touched in some way by this great lady.
The family will receive friends at 11:30 AM, Saturday, October 26th at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27401 followed by a celebration of life at 1 PM. A graveside farewell will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park following the service.
