Michael Tippett

Theron Michael Tippett, 71, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Monday July 31, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Michael was born January 21, 1946 in High Point the son of Fred Gale and Olivia Grace Kenan Tippett.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, James “Jim” Tippett.

Michael was a graduate of Ragsdale High School Class of 1964. He was a veteran of U.S. Army and member of the 82nd Airborne serving in Vietnam. He along with his late brother Jim owned and operated Tippett Panel Company. He was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church where he served faithfully as an usher for many years. Michael loved to play golf, fish and visit the beach. He loved going and watching his grandchildren at their ballgames.

On February 2, 1969 he was married to Jeanette “Jeanne” Elizabeth Koury. Surviving are his wife Jeanne Tippett of the home; three sons, John Michael Tippett and wife Angie of Kernersville, Brian Koury Tippett and wife Jennifer of Thomasville, Christopher Koury Tippett and wife Amber of Lexington; his mother, Olivia Grace Kenan Tippett of Greensboro; one sister, Carolyn Tippett Baker of Pinehurst; one brother, Farrell Tippett of Greensboro and 8 grandchildren, Gavin Tippett, Logan Tippett, Zachary Tippett, Nicholas Tippett, Sydney Tippett, Macey Tippett, Lauren Tippett and Madison Tippett.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church Fellowship Hall. There will be a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m.

The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be made in Michael’s memory to St. Benedict’s Catholic Church 109 West Smith St. Greensboro, NC 27401
