

A graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Walkertown, NC. A memorial service will be held the next day on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Friends Homes Guilford, on New Garden Road in Greensboro, at 2:30 pm in the living room of Woolman Hall.
She was born July 31, 1921 to the late Jessie and Bahanson Middleton of Forsyth County. She graduated from Walkertown High School, and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Women’s College (named changed to UNCG). Ms. Middleton completed her dietetic internship at the Medical College of Virginia.
Ms. Middleton was employed for 5 years by Richmond Hospital. She served in the Army during World War II and was stationed at Camp Davis, Camp Butner and Valley Forge General Hospital. Following her service, she worked with North Carolina Agricultural Extension for 28 years, 15 years in Mecklenburg County and 13 years in Guilford County. After her retirement, she was a Dietary Consultant in Guilford County for nursing homes for 5 years. For many years, she was an active member of College Place United Methodist Church.
Ms. Middleton is survived by her nieces, Beth Davis and Julia Howington, her great nieces and nephews, Doug, Kelly and Jonathan Davis, and Jessie and Mary Beth Howington, and her great-great nephews, Tommy and Frank Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Mary Middleton Ingram.
In lieu of flowers, it was Ms. Middleton’s wish was to have memorial contributions made to Greensboro Urban Ministry, 305 West Lee St., Greensboro, NC 27406, Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 5390 Pine Hall Rd., Walkertown, NC 27051, or to College Place United Methodist Church, 509 Tate St., Greensboro, NC 27403.
