After a brief 6 week battle with cancer, Matthew Martin Miller, age 36, departed this temporary life for his Eternal Heavenly Home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. He was born on Wednesday, September 25, 1985 and was the beloved son of Louis Lyndon Miller, II and Sharon Lynne Price Miller. Although an only child, he was always surrounded by a large, loving family and enjoyed road trips, beach and fishing trips and all family gatherings. He graduated from Brittain Academy in High Point, NC. Matthew possessed a keen intellect (top 3% in Nation). His Paw-Paw used to say “Matthew is smart as a whip”. His MeMaw would say, “Don’t be so smart that you outsmart yourself!” He was a jack of all trades and held many jobs including electrician’s apprentice, and mechanic on large and small engines. His favorite job was working for an electrical company on Food Lion stores in the Maggie Valley area and he often said how he wanted to vacation there someday. Matthew loved the outdoors, fishing, rock climbing and Four wheeling. He also loved cooking and actually became quite the chef with his Gumbo being second only to Memaw’s!!
Matthew loved his family and friends and had a gracious and helpful spirit. In fact, people often said of him “He would give you the shirt off his back.” Matthew was very humorous, he was “That Guy”. Even while suffering in severe pain, he would have the whole room, family and nurses, laughing out loud.
Despite the trials and tribulations that Matthew faced, as we all do in life, he was a saved believer in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis Lyndon Miller and Mary Alice Trexler Miller; Wilmer Price and Lois Clark Price; Uncle Thomas Price, Aunt Mary Price Snyder Clement, and cousin Justin Snyder and Aunt Julia Miller.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Louis Lyndon Miller, II and Sharon Price Miller and his beloved daughter Abigail and her mother Stephanie Mabe and Randy Ellis. Surviving relatives on father’s side of family are Aunts, Uncles and Cousins: Bonnie Durland, Shane Delk, Melanie Benton, and her three children Frankie, Amy and Beth, Rosemary and Craig Bombalas and their two children Nick and Michael.
