A cryptside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Guilford Memorial Park Sedgefield Mausoleum, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro. Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel has the honor of assisting the family.
Born in Guilford County on February 23, 1927 to the late Roy Lee Yarbrough and Lola Arthurs Yarbrough, Mary retired from Prudential Insurance Company. She loved to paint and quilt. Mary was a Poet and a Writer. She mostly wrote books for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend that was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn W. Patterson; and her two brothers, Clarence and Ray Yarbrough.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Fonda Spivey (Clayton) of High Point, Shelley Snider of Moore County; step-daughter, Sheila Drew (Thomas) of Rocky Mount; step-sons, Ray Oakley (Jenni) of McLeansville and Keith Patterson (Mary) of Rockingham County; grandchildren, Wendy Thompson (Kevin) and Shawn Spivey (Robin); great-grandchildren, Ethan Thompson (Katelyn) and Austin Thompson; numerous step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
