Mary Anna Eastwood, 87, passed away on, while in at home hospice care. Born an only child in Bronx New York to Francis and Rose Goldrick, Mary, along with her husband and children, moved down to NC, in 1975 as part of her husband’s job transfer with Western Electric. Mary and her husband were members of the Knights of Columbus for over five decades and she was a member of the Lady’s Auxiliary. Mary and her husband took part in many Knights of Columbus sponsored community outreach programs such as the annual Operation Lamb Tootsie Roll drive to benefit the intellectually disabled.
Mary was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She passed on her strong faith and love of her country to her children. Her great faith was also evident to her extended family and friends as she maintained a prayer list and if anyone needed prayer, they knew they could call Mary and she would put them on her prayer list. She brightened so many people’s lives with her caring and fun-loving nature, quick wit, profound sense of humor, and generous heart.
Mary was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband of 57 years, William Eastwood, and her oldest daughter, Mary Grace McCormack. Left to cherish her memory are her children, son William (Billy) Eastwood of Greensboro (Paige), and daughter Kathryn Eastwood of Greensboro; Son-in-law Jeff McCormack of Nokesville VA, Grandchildren Megan and Ryan Eastwood of Greensboro, Katie and Michael McCormack of Nokesville VA (Adrianna), Great-grandchild Savannah Mary Grace McCormack of Nokesville VA, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and Friends of Mrs. Eastwood are invited to attend her viewing and receive the family from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home in Greensboro at 515 N. Elm St on Sunday, November 19, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church 2203 West Market Street in Greensboro on Monday, November 20 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow immediately at Westminster Gardens Cemetery in Greensboro 3601 Whitehurst Road in Greensboro.
