A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sharpe Road Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Alton Cook and Rev. John Malek. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. Family visitation will be held on Monday night at Sharpe Road Baptist Church from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
She was born in Siler City, NC to the late Cletus, Sr. and Epsie Wright Yow. She grew up in Guilford County and graduated from Alamance High School. She was a graduate of St. Leo’s Hospital school of Nursing (RN); St Joseph’s College (BS) and University of North Carolina at Greensboro (MEd). She was a long time member of Sharpe Road Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher.
Margaret worked in many different areas from 1953-1996, starting as a Nursing Home Supervisor in Public Health. She was a Naval Hospital Staff Nurse, Head Nurse Emergency Department; Staff Development Instructor and as a Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse.
Elaine served as the president of the Emergency Department Nurses Association and received the Moses Cone Hospital Nursing Excellence Award in 1991. She was a contributing editor to the Journal of Emergency Nursing; president of the St. Leo’s Alumni; and the Historian for the Daughters of the American Revolution, Rachel Caldwell Chapter.
Margaret travelled to Europe with doctors for a charity medical work. She was a sweetheart with a big smile, and was a friend to everyone. She was loving and always willing to help the sick and those in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of sixty-four years, Myrl Moser; granddaughter, Jennifer Moser; and sisters, Betty Reynolds and Carol Stratton. Margaret is survived by her sons, William Moser of Julian and James Moser (Janet) of Siler City; grandson Brandon Moser; and brothers, Cletus Yow Jr., (June) of Greensboro, NC and Claude Yow (Francis) of Knoxville, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Sharpe Road Baptist Church or to the Alzhiemers Association in memory of Margaret Elaine Yow Moser.
