Lloyd Newell

Harold Lloyd Newell, 77, a resident of Greensboro died Friday January 3, 2014 at Moses H. Cone Hospital. Mr. Newell was born June 27, 1936 in Rockingham County, the son of Harold Hugh and Nina Williams Newell. He was a former employee with Burlington Industries and retired from Guilford Mills. Lloyd was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Frances Newell Schwalm.

On July 4, 1958 he was married to the former Betty Ola McHone who survives of the home. Surviving in addition to his wife Ola M. Newell is one daughter, Michelle N. Davis and husband Chuck of Greensboro; one son, Michael Newell of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Shane, Adam and Dustin Newell, Katie and Warren Davis; two great grandchildren, Izziah and Landis Newell; two nieces, Sharon Williams and Carla Smith and Anna Turner, mother of Landis.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Lucas McCain. Interment with Military Honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
