Lisa was born in Ithaca, New York, on August 18, 1961, to Joan Morenus Edwards and Gerald Edwards. She was a graduate of Northern Illinois University, worked professionally for many years in the Silicon Valley, and served in senior leadership positions for The ARC of Greensboro and the Women's Resource Center of Greensboro.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Morenus Edwards, and her loving father-in-law Jimmy Ray Westmoreland, Sr. Survivors include her husband of eighteen years, Jim Westmoreland; son, Jimmy Westmoreland, III; father, Jerry (and Jan) Edwards; sister, Lynn (and Doug) Roberts; brothers, Mike and Rob (and Melissa) Edwards; mother-in-law Annie Westmoreland; and many other extended family members and friends. Lisa loved life, her family, and friends.
Throughout her thirteen-year battle with breast cancer, she enjoyed spending time in her garden, decorating her home, walking and riding through the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, spending time with her friends playing mahjong, and eating breakfast at Panera Bread. She was very strong in her faith and would often reference God's daily work through the sighting of "God winks" in her path. Lisa also wanted to thank and recognize all of the members of "Team Lisa" who helped her in her battle over the past many years. These include the incredible team at the Moses Cone Cancer Center, Cancer Rehabilitation Center, Cancer and Interventional Radiology, and Wesley Long Hospital; the City team (city managers and legislative offices, current and former City Council Members, department directors, and staff) of the City of Greensboro; and her dear friends, Emily Gardner, Cindy Krohn, and Tina Blowe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the City of Greensboro, Parks and Recreation Department; to help support continued upgrades to and beautification of the Battleground Parks District at P.O. Box 3136, Greensboro, NC 27402.
