Lillian was born on July 24, 1929 in Avery Co., NC, one of nine children of Richard and Delana Cooke. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. Lillian was loved and adored by so many. She was known as “Mom” to the older generation and as “Granny” to the younger generations. Her greatest joy in life was her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lovedto sing and we know that, right now, she is leading the choir in Heaven and singing a duet with Jesus. Mom was known as “Diddy” to her 4 younger sisters and she loved chatting with them every day and spending a week with all of them at Holden Beach each year. We are all going to miss her so deeply.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, W. Howard Ellis and her daughter, Tricia Ellis and one sister, Martha Kincaid. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children; Richard Ellis and wife Marsha of Gibsonville, NC, Bob Ellis and wife Georgia of Jamestown and Deena Williams and husband Herb of Pleasant Garden, NC; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; siblings; Lee Cooke of Fremont, MI, Peggy Sherwood of Newaygo, MI, George Cooke and wife Martha of Linville, NC, Janice Payne of Asheville, NC, Mamie Luther and husband Tony of Linville, NC, Linda Pittman and husband Charlie of Pineola, NC and David Cooke and wife Mona of Linville, NC.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, 3:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial following at Guilford Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
