Lewis was born on January 11, 1984, the only son of Catherine Booher Poag and the late
Lewis Pace Poag and the younger brother of Catherine “Katie” Poag. From the day he was born Lewis brought great joy to all who shared in his life.
Lewis attended Woodberry Forest School and graduated from Greensboro Day School.
Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Debate, and Theater complemented his favorite academics,
Latin, Biology, and English. He attended ASU and GTCC, taking courses in film. Lewis was the General Manager of Arrow Exterminators Inc. in Greensboro.
Even as a child, Lewis embraced each day with enthusiasm and inquisitiveness and was always ready for new adventures and experiences. His intellectual curiosity took him on many journeys. Over the years he enjoyed golf, snowboarding, the company of friends, travels with family, gem mining, baseball cards, music, films, sporting events, lively discussions, and relaxing at home with his family. From the moment that Lewis brought his German Shepherd “Mac” home, it was clear “Mac” was meant to be with Lewis.
Much like Leo Tolstoy’s parable of the “The Three Questions,”
Lewis lived his life in the present moment.
The most important person was the one that he was with at that time.
The most important pursuit was to “do good” for that person.
Eight years ago, when Lewis met Patricia “Trish” Weekley, he knew he had found his soulmate. As a couple, they enjoyed going out and being with friends and family, but it was the times at home with their furbabies, Luna and Champ, that brought the greatest happiness and completeness to them both.
Lewis is survived by his mother, Catherine Poag; his sister, Katie Poag: his beloved, Trish Weekley; and family members: Bruce and Penny Booher, John and Carrie Booher (Sara, Grace, Luke), Heidi and James Ewing (Cambridge and Mitchell), David and Brenna McConnell-Booher; Rees and Sara Poag; Louise Parsons (Adam); and many cousins and extended family members.
Lewis was predeceased by his father, Lewis Pace Poag, and his grandparents.
