Leone Williams Vestal, 88, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Saturday January 27, 2018. She was born November 30, 1929 in Alamance County, the daughter of James Williams of Onslow County, N.C. and Lola Odom Williams of Darlington, S.C.
Leone graduated from Graham High School with the Class of 1948. She retired from Duke University Medical Center personnel office in 1960. She moved to Greensboro in 1979 and has been a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church since 1981 as well as a member of the Austin P. Fortney Sunday School Class.
Leone was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Doris W. Hudson and her brothers, James Roscoe Williams, Sr., Haywood Odom “Sam” Williams and Manley Roger Williams.
On April 21, 1951 she was married to Donald Evert Vestal who survives of the home. Surviving in addition to her husband Donald are one daughter, Donna Vestal Church and son-in-law Barry Dale Church; two grandsons, Kevin Taylor Church and wife Sara, and Trevor Allen Church all of Kernersville.
A service to Celebrate the Life of Leone will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Tom Latimere and the Reverend Jim Watford. Entombment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Serving as pallbearers for Leone will be Kevin Church, Trevor Church, Dan A. Holt, Sammy Holt, Greg Holt and Kirk Vestal.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Leone’s memory to the Jamestown United Methodist Church 403 East Main St. Jamestown, NC 27282 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
