Lawrence Langston Mann, 89, passed away peacefully at Beacon Place Hospice Monday, February 3, 2025. Born on April 26, 1935, in Pittsylvania, Virginia, he was the son of the late Lawrence Lester Mann and Virginia McGee Mann.
A proud veteran, Lawrence honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he built a successful career as a treasurer of Fieldcrest Cannon Textile Company, where his dedication and expertise were widely respected.
Lawrence was an avid Harley motorcycle enthusiast. He was born to ride! He was also a devoted Virginia Tech Hokie Alumni and enjoyed the many football games he attended with his wife and sons. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and the mini dates they had toward the end of his life.
Lawrence will be remembered for his strong work ethic, unwavering integrity, and the kindness he extended to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his brother Charles Mann. He is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Mann, sons Alan Mann and Marshall McGhee Mann, his daughter in law Sara Mann and his brother Harrel Mann, and a stepson, Matthew Abadie and stepdaughter Terri Utz. He leaves behind eight grandchildren, Lawrence H. Mann, Miles Mann, Isabelle Abadie, Eleanor Abadie, Catherine Abadie, Matthew Utz, Madison Utz and Zachary Utz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 11, at St. Pius the Tenth Catholic Church, 2210 North Elm Street, with a reception to follow in the Simmons Center at the church. A private committal service will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
