Mr. L. J. Locklear, 78, of Greensboro, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 10, 2015.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, with Pastor William Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born January 21, 1937 in Orlando, FL to the late Joe and Mary Locklear, L. J. was of the Christian faith. He was a self-employed home repair specialist and owner and operator of L.J. Locklear Roofing Company since 1962. He was a wine maker, classic car collector, and in days past he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by the love of his life for 49 years, his wife, Sadie Locklear; a daughter, Mary Denise Locklear; step-father, Frank Dimery; brothers and sisters, Annie Locklear, Bob Locklear, Aubrey Dimery, Faye Hunt, Ray Dimery, and Judy Dimery.Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Jeannie Greer and husband Danny, and Rebecca Locklear Peov; son, Mark Anthony "Tony" Locklear; sister, Lillian Dimery; grandchildren, Christopher, Danielle, Julieanna, J. R., Noelia, Cody, Alana, Siera, and Elijah; great-grandchildren, Danny Bluai, Tyler, Nina, Cayden, Ameiriana, and Sean; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
