Kerrie Wilkins Hamilton, 54, of Kernersville, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023, at her home. She was born Thursday, January 18, 1969 in Greensboro, a daughter of the late James R. Wilkins and Charlotte A. Wilkins.
She was a 1987 graduate of Southeast Guilford High School and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a talent acquisition specialist for Republic Services Environmental Solutions. Along with her dedication to her work, she also devoted countless hours of her time to volunteering. Her love and adoration for her sons expanded to her passion to care and support children of all ages. She organized the fundraising gala for Boys and Girls Club of Greensboro, served as President of the Parent Teacher Organization and chaired the annual Shamrock Auction for Our Lady of Grace Catholic School. Her love and adoration of her pets, Kallie Sue, Tigger and many others over the years expanded to care for all animals through her work with pet rescue and adoption agencies and providing care for any four legged or two legged animal she came across that needed aid.
Beyond all of these efforts to give back to the community, perhaps her most noticeable trait was her unwavering support for her friends, family and often complete strangers during their times of need. Kerrie had a knack for elevating spirits and seemed to elevate her own by making those around her laugh and smile. She was also a master of the art of playing practical jokes. One would never see it coming and couldn’t help but be amused by them when they happened in which she always took great delight. She loved to dance, loved to laugh, loved to smile, and loved to care.
She is survived by her devoted husband and companion of 6 years, Dannie Hamilton; two sons, Dominick Brancazio of Charlotte, NC and Jake Brancazio of Charlotte, NC; and brother, Mikel Wilkins of Plano, TX.
A gathering for friends and loved ones to celebrate Kerrie’s life, will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m., Saturday, July 22, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, NC 27407. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network, 8653 NC Hwy. 65, Stokesdale, NC 27357 (https://reddogfarm.com/donate/).
