Our beloved son and brother, Kenneth Paul McEntire III, (Kenny Mac), passed away far too soon on December 2, 2023 after a tough 4-month battle with stomach cancer at 51 years of age at Beacon Place Hospice Center in Greensboro, NC. Kenny was born in Shelby, NC and was very successful with his career in industrial and commercial lighting sales. He is survived by his father and mother, Ken and Clair McEntire of Whitsett, NC, his sister and brother-in-law, Tina McEntire and Michael Getz, his two nieces, Emily Mason and Isabella Mason, and four step-nephews and nieces, Margaret, Catherine, Addie, and William Getz. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his precious dog, Sophie. His other two surviving fur babies, Jack and Roxie, will be well-loved by his parents.
Kenny Mac was full of life and never met a stranger. He cared very deeply for his work family at State Line Lighting in Charlotte, NC and the many long-standing customers he worked with over the years. He also loved his many, many friends from high school, college, and from his many years living in Charlotte, NC. His passions were Alabama football, pickleball, his dogs, and golf.
Kenny’s last wish was to attend the SEC Football Championship game on December 2nd to watch his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide football team. He bought tickets to attend but became critically ill two weeks before the game. Kenny died 30 minutes before kick-off of the game. His family knows in their hearts that Kenny’s spirit left this earth early so that he could make a pitstop at the game while making his way to Heaven. We have no doubt that he was cheering on the team from the 50-yard line as they beat Georgia. Roll Tide!
The family will receive friends from 2pm-3pm on Friday, December 8, 2023, with a memorial service following at 3pm at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N Elm St. Greensboro, NC 27401. Memorial contributions can be made to Beacon Place Hospice Center, 2502 Summit Ave, Greensboro, NC 27405.
