Kathryn S. Lauten

Kathryn was born May 17, 1919 in Greene County, Tennessee to Steven Alexander and Mary Luttrell Ailshie. She was formally a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a volunteer of the Wesley Long Hospital Auxiliary, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross Blood Mobile, and a member of the Hamilton Lakes Garden Club, Starmount Forest Country Club Ladies Golf Association, O’Henry Womans Club and the 6100 Investment Club.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas M. Shadoin, Sr. in 1969 and John J. Lauten, Sr. in 1995 and by her step-son Max H. Lauten in 2010. Surviving are her daughter, Anna S. Rickell and husband Gene of Spartanburg, SC; son, Thomas M. Shadoin, Jr. and wife Linda of Apex, NC; step-son, John J. Lauten and wife Sylvia of Jacksonville, NC and wife of step-son, Max Lauten, Jill of Luthervile, MD. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the Living Room at Friends Home West, 6100 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Weekley from Grace United Methodist Church officiating. A private graveside service will follow only for immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials be made to the ALS Association or the American Cancer Society.
