Julie Melinda Sheek Morris, 59, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 11 at Hospice Home of High Point. She was born in Durham, NC and raised in Jamestown, NC. She was the daughter of Sue Blevins Sheek and the late Art Sheek, and sister to Jeff Sheek.
Julie was born on February 13, 1966 and graduated from Southwest Guilford High School. She attended UNC Chapel Hill for one year and then transferred to UNC Greensboro where she graduated in 1989 with a BA in Interior Design. She worked several years at Today's Office in Burlington, NC before becoming a mom to three beautiful children: Jake Price of Brooklyn, NY, Abby Price of Jamestown, NC, and Noah Price of Irving, TX. One of Julie's most defining traits was her motherly love.
Julie was an athlete, growing up swimming at Cedarwood Pool, then running, kayaking and hiking with her husband. She loved the outdoors, surrounded by God's beauty on a mountain peak or walking on the beach at sunset. Julie became reacquainted with her husband by chance while walking on the Bicentennial Greenway. They shared a love for nature, photography, and exploring their beautiful home state of North Carolina from the Mountains to the Coast.
Julie was employed at Well-Spring Retirement Home where she thrived with the older community. She was a two-time breast cancer survivor and fought multiple cancers throughout her life. Julie displayed incredible Courage, Faith, and unwavering Hope. She fought with Determination and Grace, inspiring everyone who knew her. Her love for the Lord was a constant source of light that remained with her until her death.
She is survived by her husband, mother Sue Sheek, brother Jeff (wife Ivette), children Jake, Abby and Noah, nephews Sam and Josh Sheek (wife Kelly), great nephew Arthur Sheek, mother-in-law, brother-in-law (his wife), sister-in-law (her husband). She is also survived by her lifelong group of friends fondly known as "The Tribe": Jamie Stoffel, Laurie Pabers, Sheri Ward, and Jeannie Groome-Willetts. Her beloved dog Willa Grace also survives her.
Julie requested a Remembrance of Life and that will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jamestown United Methodist Church (403 E Main Street, Jamestown, NC 27282), Hospice Home of High Point (181 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262) or Children's Home Society of North Carolina (604 Meadow Street, Greensboro, NC 27405)
