Mrs. Julia Newsome Price, 73, a resident of Kernersville died Tuesday morning August 19, 2014 at her residence. Julia was born August 24, 1940 in Virgie, KY, the daughter of Garland and Verda Tackett Ray. She was a former employee at the Silver Knit and Indian Head Hosiery Mills in High Point and later worked at Jeanette Maternity. She was of Baptist faith.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Elna Hall and two brothers, Garland Ray, Jr. and Greg Ray.
On March 22, 1955 she was married to Thomas Jefferson Price, Jr. who survives of the home. Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are three daughters, Doris Royall of High Point, Debbie Simmons of Trinity, Paula Sarvis and husband Richard of High Point; two sons, Thomas Jefferson Price, III of Butner, Steve Price and wife Pandy of Sophia; four sisters, Laura Sparkman of TN, Hazel Kornak and husband Andy of FL, Mary Merquez of MI, Ruby Daniels and husband James of KY; three brothers, Simon Newsome of KY, Gary Ray and wife Kay of KY, Glen Ray and wife Teresa of TN; a special granddaughter, Nancy Perdue who took care of Julia and her needs; a special uncle, Effort Tackett and his wife Yvonne; 19 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Pastor Chris Davis. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
