Joseph F. (Joe) Mullinax Jr., 81, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2011. A native of Guilford County, Joseph was born on April 11, 1930, the son of Nancy C. Cates Mullinax and Joseph F. Mullinax, Sr. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Navy. He worked with Western Electric until his retirement.
Joe was an avid golfer and was a former Deacon at Groometown Baptist Church. He attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and especially his grandsons.
Services to celebrate Joe’s life will be held on Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Entombment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park with full military honors.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Doris V. Mullinax; sons, Joseph F. Mullinax III and wife Laura and Gary A. Mullinax and wife Adrienne; grandsons, Joseph Travis Mullinax, Richard Blake Mullinax and John Connor Mullinax, close cousin Barney (Tinker) Cates and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care and concern given to Joe by the staff of the Crystal Coast Unit at The Shannon Gray in Jamestown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your preferred charity.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
