John Celestine Williams, 87, of Greensboro, NC, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. John was born February 21, 1935, in Dunn, NC to the late Michael and Leola Williams. He lived most of his life in Greensboro and retired from the Greensboro News & Record. He had a strong entrepreneurial spirit and enjoyed helping his children start their own businesses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son John C. Williams, Jr. of Greensboro, NC.
John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Frances Parker, his sons, Tony (Jennifer) of Pleasant Garden, NC, Jeffrey (April) of Greensboro, NC; his daughter Teresa (Bill) of Atlantic Beach, FL;a daughter-in law, Elizabeth of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Amanda, Mitchell, Emma, James, Heather and Abbie; step-grandchildren, Stormy and Kristen; his brothers, James M. Williams of Charlotte, NC, Martin Williams (Joy) of Dunn, NC; his sister, Mattie Gregory of Raleigh, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. Burial will immediately follow the service in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones one hour prior to the services from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the funeral home and then again in the funeral home’s reception room, immediately following the graveside committal.
