John Victor Papson

A gathering to celebrate John's life will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. Please join the family as they receive friends and loved ones for fellowship and shared memories of John.

John was born July 18, 1941 in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania to the late Julius Victor Papson and Julia Yerabek Papson.

John graduated from Meyers High School in 1959, and later attended Wilkes College. He later served with distinction in the United States Army from 1964 - 1969. John began his career with Wrangler Jeans in 1973, and moved to Madison, New Jersey, where he spent 11 years working out of their New York office. In 1991, the Papson family relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina where John eventually retired as Vice President of Retail Sales and Marketing in 2006. He was an avid fisherman and golfer who especially enjoyed time spent with his Monday morning golf group and fishing with his sons. Known for his kindness, generosity, and easy-going nature, John was adored by his family, friends, work colleagues, and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Fritz.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Patricia Papson; sons, Mark and Ryun; sister, Anita Sabatino; grandchildren, Charles and Rosalie Papson; and other extended family and friends.
