Mr. John F. Lawson

Mr. John F. Lawson, 72, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Moses Cone Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, 7:30pm, at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Chapel.

John was born May 25, 1940, the son of Charlie Nathaniel Lawson and Katherine Roberts Lawson of Bethany, NC.

John was with Green Ford for 43 years where he held several different positions, most recently as a sales manager.

John has enjoyed many hobbies over the years including hunting, fishing, golfing, coin and gun collecting and he had a love of classic cars. He was admired by others for his honesty and his sense of fair play. Quick-witted, John always enjoyed making others laugh. But his greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Maxine Lawson and Mary Miller.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Karen; daughters, Jennifer Williams and Melissa Lawson, both of Greensboro; sisters, Anne Bowman of Bethany and Christine Doss of Reidsville; grandsons, Spencer and Connor Williams.

Friends will be received from 6 – 7:30pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
