John Samuel Kirkman

John Samuel (Sam) Kirkman, of Pleasant Garden, NC, passed away on July 13, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer. Sam was born on June 22, 1961 in Greensboro, North Carolina to John Arnold Kirkman and Molene Hardin Kirkman. Sam is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Debbie Kirkman and his sister, Sue K. Pine. He is survived by one brother, Charles Kirkman (Judy) and one sister Gayle Greene (Mickey). He is also survived by his brother in law, Keefer Pine.

Sam was a graduate of Southeast Guilford High School. He was a very talented auto mechanic, which he worked at for several years before he retired. He was known to be a lover of animals, especially dogs and would be the first person to take in a stray. He enjoyed the sports of fishing and hunting. In his younger years he spent many days with his late brother in law, Cecil Amick at the lake. He enjoyed spending time with his brother Charles as well, including hunting together. Sam was known to be a very generous person and was especially protective of those that he held close to his heart. Sam will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside service will be held at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407 on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Pastor Dr. Robert Hefner. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital, a charity that Sam felt very strongly about.
