John Arrington IV, 41, of Charlotte, passed into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 13, 2023. John was born in Greensboro on July 30, 1981 to Pam and John Arrington. He graduated from Grimsley High School in 2000 and from UNC Charlotte in 2006. He began his 16 year career at Bank of America shortly after graduation, and worked in both Greensboro and Charlotte in several different divisions, most recently in HR Operations. John often spoke of how much he enjoyed working with members of his teams and managers.
An avid hiker, camper, and fisherman, John routinely expressed his appreciation for the great outdoors, and spent much of his free time experiencing nature. He particularly loved hiking along the ridge line of a North Carolina mountain top, and was even more thrilled if the skies were pouring rain.
John loved missions and serving others in Christ’s name. He went on mission trips through Westover Church to South Africa and Turkey, as well as in the US. He pursued and longed for a deeper relationship with God. John will be remembered by his friends for his kindness and loyalty. He particularly showed kindness to those who needed it most. When he heard negative things spoken about another person, he liked to say something positive.
John was also a big sports fan, and he followed all the Charlotte professional teams, as well as his Atlanta Braves. As an adult, John loved reading, especially books about history, the West, military operations, and explorations.
In addition to his parents, John is survived by his sisters, Laura Brubaker (Matt) and Alison Marshall (John); his brothers, Doug (Leah) and Mark (Yeama) Arrington. John is also survived by eight nieces and nephews. John was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and colleague to so many people who loved and respected him, and will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Westover Church, 505 Muirs Chapel Rd., Greensboro, NC 27410. The family will receive friends after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Westover Church Mission fund (westoverchurch.com) or American Hiking Society (americanhiking.org).
