Mr. John Blair Armstrong, 93, a resident of Greensboro died Sunday morning October 20, 2013 at Wesley Long Hospital. Mr. Armstrong was born April 12, 1920 in Lincoln Co. the son of John Elijah and Bessie Finger Armstrong. He was a retired truck driver for Pfizer Chemical Co. and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He was married on September 14, 1940 to the former Alice White who preceded him in death in August of 1997. After the death of Alice, he married Charity Cartledge who also preceded him in death in August of 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bertie Huss, Helen Armstrong and two brothers, Rev. Bill (W.P.) Armstrong and Harold Armstrong.
Surviving is one daughter, Louise A. Secord and husband Robert of Pomona, CA; one son, Reverend Leon Armstrong and wife Linda of Greensboro; two step-daughters Diane Haselwood (Gerald) and Patsy Nicholson (Danny); four grandchildren, Lisa Adam, Kevin Thompson, Lynnette Young, Lance Armstrong; 16 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Reverend Tommy Thompson and Reverend Robert Armstrong. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
