John Ward Andrews, 72, of Greensboro, loving husband and father, passed peacefully on Saturday June 20, 2015, surrounded by those who loved him. John was born October 27, 1942 in Roanoke, VA the son of the late Kelly Dene and Stella Ward Andrews.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country in Korea. He was a lifetime member of the V.F. W. Post # 7726. He graduated from N.C. State University. He enjoyed 35 years as District Conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service. He especially valued conserving and protecting the environment.
John was a generous, kind, and loving man. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He spent many happy days enjoying outdoor pursuits with family, hunting and fishing with his boys and best friends, Ward and Bryan.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Potter Andrews of 45 marvelous years; sons, Jonas Ward Andrews of Greensboro, William Bryan Andrews and wife Mindy of Greensboro; brother, Jerry Andrews and wife DeAnna of Charlottesville, VA and granddaughters, Liliah Erykah Andrews and Ella Harper Andrews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 617 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27410 conducted by the Reverend Neil Dunnavant. Interment with Military Honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27410 on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
